2012 Panther Cup!

In honor of the upcoming PGA Ryder Cup tournament, the Whitman-Hanson golf team is excited about participating in the first ever 2012 Panther Cup.

The two day tournament will be held at Ridder Farm Golf Course between Team Devlin and Team Green.  The rosters and match ups are as follows:

     Team Green                               Team Devlin
Cpt. Josh Green           vs.          Cpt. Shane Devlin
  Cole Manning              vs.           Mike Capellupo
  Cam Manning              vs.           Alex Burbank
  Kyle Reardon              vs.           Cory Cocchi
  Sam Webster               vs.           Luke Crowley
  Sam Perkins                 vs.           Zach Burke
  Josh Kelleher               vs.           Nolan Warren
  Mike Eaves                  vs.           Katherine Young
  Coach Dempsey          vs.            Coach Googins

Monday's contest will be straight up "match play" rules, which means the winner of the hole earns 1 point for the match.  For example, if Josh Green scores a 4 on a hole, and Shane Devlin scores a 5 on the same hole, because they are competing against each other, Josh Green would earn 1 point for the match.  If both players were to tie on the same hole, they are each awarded a half point.  The most amount of points any one player can earn in a round is 9.

Tuesday's contest will be a little different.  Foursomes will be made up of two players from each side.  Each player will play out the holes, but the better of the two scores by teammates in each foursome will be used, instead of each individual score being kept.  For example, Green and Manning will be playing together against Devlin and Capellupo.  If Green scores a 4 and Manning scores a 3, Manning's score would be used to go against the lower score from Devlin and Capellupo.  Once again, the most amount of point any one foursome can earn in a round is 9.

The team is excited about the friendly competition, as they will all be competing for the Panther Cup trophy, which will be prominently displayed .... somewhere.

Good luck to both sides!
