After nearly two months of time spent on the golf course, the Whitman Hanson Golf team spent their time on Saturday morning (Oct. 29) giving back to the community.
Senior Captain Harry Chase, along with teammates DJ Tsiantoulas, Thomas Murphy, Matt Ward, and Sean Anderson, volunteered for the Trunk or Trunk event, sponsored and hosted by the Whitman Stop & Shop location. The boys donned their Panther polos and decorated their cars (or trunks), along with several other members of the community to hand out candy in a safe environment for young trick or treaters. They proudly represented their school and team, while positively contributing to a great community event.
Across town lines, junior captain Blake Belcher led teammates Sam Carron, Ryan Hathaway, Sam Spadorcia, Derek Olson, Cooper Britton, Devin Brodeur, Aidan Spadorcia, and Nic Manganiello in aiding a Hanson community member in need of help with yard clean-up chores. The group took off their golf gloves and put on their work gloves making short work of the bush trimming, tree and plant pruning, leaf raking and lawn mowing. Together, they took pride in assisting a community member in need, but they also were living proof that sometimes even the smallest gesture can make a big difference.
